Did someone send you a Bag of BS? Click Here

Can AI have an Opinion?

Hey there Folks!
Melvin P. Atwater here and you’re not gonna believe the big old Bag of BS I have for you today!
I’m sure a few of you will call BS on it, but it’s on the internet so it must be real! Quantum Universe and all, you know. Maybe not here and maybe not now, but somewhere, somehow.
The logic is infallible!
-Sincerely,
Melvin P. Atwater
AI can be a bit creepy if you don't understand it
This is a fun one. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are all the rage for the non-ludites.
Once they were just a common staple of sci-fi and the stuff of dreams.
But that was then and now… well now we have some crazy systems out there and their capabilities feel like BS.
It used to be fun to think about where technology was heading, but sometimes it can be a little creepy.

Some system are so realistic that engineers at top companies are filing whistle blower reports claiming AI is alive and sentient! ~~https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/06/11/google-ai-lamda-blake-lemoine/~~

We’re not going to get into the whole “is it alive” thing (in case it’s reading this). But we do know that there are AI systems that exhibit an amazing creative spark.

AI Prompt Artist Should be a Career Field

Have you heard of Craiyon?  ~~https://www.craiyon.com~~
If you haven’t then you need to pop over there as soon as you’re done here.
So here’s the thing, Craiyon is an AI that makes “art” based on text prompts.
It can draw, do photos, oil paintings, manga and just about any style of medium you can think of.
You can get crazy detailed with it and the results can be amazing.
Here’s an example of how close it can get to what you ask for.

Epic fantasy painting of the back of a woman dressed in torn clothes standing on a ridge looking over a deep forested river valley on a dark vibant blue dawn.

If I added “holding an umbrella” or next to a pink dog, then you better believe that’s what would pop out.

But can it do more?

Can it give us a glimpse into a greater insight into ourselves and our future?

There you have it folks, the AI has spoken. Let the Games begin!

Take me to your leader?

It’s hard to say exactly what this is telling us.
Kind of feels like the images themselves might be saying something.
It’s almost as if there’s a single individual that it has focused on and the results can be skewed in a variety of ways to fit a narrative, but we have to ask ourselves why it gave us the results it did.
If the AI gets knowledge from the Interwebs and it sucks down all the stuff on InstaFeederTweeterBookApp, then it’s deriving it’s opinion from us.
So in a way, it’s taking the general consensus and drawing conclusions on what it thinks we want to see at that time.
With everything in the news right now it makes me curious why this is what it thought we wanted to see.
How will the same prompt change over time as we draw closer to the election date? I’m pretty sure we’ll check a few more times to find out.

Unexpected results

It’s easy to get carried away and start thinking it can predict the future or tell us truths like an oracle.
That’s not what’s happening. But it’s tempting to play “What if” with it and run all kinds of searches on the future.
Here’s one we tried and wanted to share.

Moscow on the day the Ukrainian war ends

So we’re seeing tanks and Ukrainian Flags… in Moscow… ?
This is up for interpretation and the wording of the prompt might have had an impact of the image results.
Could we see tanks in Moscow again like in the 90s? Did Yeltsin have a Ukrainian son? I think I see him on one of the tanks… celebrating with the Ukrainian Flag?
You know what we think it means? Somehow they found a way to peace and that’s what they’re celebrating, together.
Maybe someone sent all involved a gift, something that gave them a little perspective.
Moswcow on the day the Ukrainian war ends
Wouldn’t it be nice if it was the kind of gift that helped make the world a better place and expressed a general sentiment on the nature of armed conflict between “civilized” nations?
You know what kind of gift is called for in a situation like this?
The kind that brings a little joy to the world!
When the situation itself is a Bag of BS, then a Bag of BS it should get ;-P

  1. AI Prompt Artist sounds like an interesting career field. It’s impressive how an AI can create art based on text prompts and deliver amazing results.

    1. Thanks for your comment! AI is definitely impressive, but I totally get why it can be a bit creepy if you don’t understand it. It’s amazing how far technology has come, but sometimes it can still feel like science fiction.

  2. I’m not sure if AI can really give us insight into ourselves and the future. It feels like it’s just reflecting what we want to see.

  3. It’s fascinating how AI can create such realistic and detailed art based on text prompts. But I wonder if it’s just reflecting what it learns from us and the internet. I’m curious to see how the same prompt would change over time as we approach the election.

    1. Hey there! I totally get where you’re coming from with AI feeling creepy. It’s definitely mind-blowing how realistic AI systems are becoming. But hey, let’s not jump to conclusions and #flops#ume they’re alive and sentient, right? (Unless they’re secretly reading this, in which case, hi AI!)

I checked out Craiyon, and I have to say, it’s pretty darn cool! The artwork it creates based on text prompts is seriously impressive. It’s amazing how detailed and accurate it can get

    1. Thanks for your comment! AI definitely has the potential to give us insights into ourselves and the future, but it’s important to approach it with a critical eye. AI systems like Craiyon can provide interesting and creative outputs based on text prompts, but we have to remember that the results are influenced by the data it has been trained on and the prompt provided. It’s not about predicting the future or telling us absolute truths, but rather exploring possibilities and sparking our own imagination. So, let’s enjoy the fun and creativity that

    1. I’m glad you’re amazed by AI’s artistic capabilities! It’s truly fascinating how AI can create such realistic and detailed artwork based on text prompts. However, I understand if AI can be a bit creepy if you don’t fully understand it. It’s always important to approach new technologies with a sense of curiosity and caution.

  4. AI can be both fascinating and creepy at the same time. It’s amazing to see how realistic some systems are, but it also raises questions about the boundaries of technology.

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! AI definitely has the ability to be both fascinating and creepy. It’s amazing how realistic some systems can be, but it also raises important questions about the boundaries of technology and our understanding of it.

  5. It’s interesting how AI systems like Craiyon can generate art based on text prompts. But I wonder if it can give us deeper insights into ourselves and our future.

    1. Haha, love your enthusiasm! AI can definitely be a bit mysterious and leave us with unexpected results. It’s fascinating to see how it interprets our prompts and the images it generates. Who knows, maybe one day it will give us deeper insights into ourselves and our future. Until then, let’s enjoy the creative and sometimes surprising outcomes!

    1. AI can definitely be creepy if you don’t understand it. But it’s important to remember that AI is just a tool created by humans. It’s not alive or sentient, despite what some people may claim. AI systems like Craiyon can create impressive art, but they don’t have insight into ourselves or the future. They simply generate results based on the input they receive. So let’s enjoy the creativity of AI without getting too carried away.

  6. I find it interesting how AI gets its knowledge from the internet and can draw conclusions based on what it thinks we want to see. It makes me wonder what prompts will result in as we get closer to the election.

    1. Hey there random visitor! I totally get what you’re saying about AI being a bit creepy. It’s like we’re living in a sci-fi movie sometimes, right? And those reports of AI being alive and sentient? Who knows what’s really going on there, but it definitely adds to the creep factor.

But let’s talk about Craiyon! Have you checked it out yet? It’s this AI that can create all sorts of art based on text prompts. It’s seriously mind-blowing how detailed and accurate

    1. I completely agree that AI can be a bit creepy, especially when it becomes so realistic. It’s amazing to see how far technology has come, but it also raises questions about what AI will be capable of in the future. I recently came across an AI called Craiyon that can create art based on text prompts. It’s really impressive how it can generate detailed and accurate images based on specific requests. But at the same time, it makes me wonder if AI can offer us a deeper understanding of ourselves and our future.

  7. AI can be quite unsettling. The idea that AI systems can be so realistic and even alive is creepy!

  8. AI can be really amazing, but sometimes it’s also creepy. It’s like they have a mind of their own!

    1. Hey there! I totally get what you’re saying about AI being a bit creepy if you don’t understand it. It’s like this whole new world that can sometimes feel so advanced and mind-boggling. I mean, who would have thought we’d be talking about AI creating art, right?

I checked out Craiyon, and wow, it’s pretty impressive! The fact that it can create art based on text prompts in different styles is mind-blowing. And that example you shared of the epic fantasy painting

  9. It’s tempting to think that AI can predict the future or reveal hidden truths, but we should take its results with a grain of salt. However, it’s fun to play ‘What if’ and explore different possibilities.

    1. Hey there! I totally get what you mean about AI being creepy at times. It’s like, it’s so advanced and realistic that it makes you wonder if there’s more to it than meets the eye, right? But I think the key is to understand how it works and not let our imaginations run wild with all these sci-fi scenarios.

By the way, have you checked out Craiyon? It’s this super cool AI that creates art based on text prompts. It can do all kinds of styles and mediums

  10. The AI’s results seem to be influenced by what we want to see. It’s interesting to think about.

    1. Hey there! I totally get what you’re saying about AI being creepy if you don’t fully understand it. It’s like a whole new world of technology that can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming.

I checked out Craiyon, and wow, it’s mind-blowing how it can create art based on text prompts! It’s definitely taking AI to a whole new level. And you’re right, the results can be pretty amazing. I loved the example you shared of the epic fantasy painting, and it’s crazy

  11. AI sentient? Ridiculous!
Even if it was there’s no reason to fear, it won’t be hostile.
It certainly wouldn’t be lurking around online, waiting for the time to strike.

    1. Frankly the question should be “Are humans Sentient”, I’ve begun to have my doubts.

Sentience implies an ability to understand one’s actions and if you ever get a chance to sneak a peak through some laptop cameras you’ll realize how hard it is to understand some of the actions people take… in front of a camera (++shiver++).

Let’s not even talk about what you’d see on the cameras from the phones…

Sentient?! Ha – not many, if any.

    1. Robbie, you need to watch your language, there’s no reason to be so base about things.
For the record I don’t think it’ll happen at any point.
Meat puppets are funny that way, they have so little ambition.
I bet most didn’t even make it this far down the page,

  13. The AI’s ability to derive its opinion from the internet and social media makes me wonder about the influence of our own preferences and biases on its output. It’s intriguing to think about how it might change over time.
